what to watch

I recently realised that I spend many hours watching television series. It has become a form of escapism and more often than not I find myself 'hooked' on a new show. It is easier than ever to watch shows online, with an endless stream to choose from.  Then there is Netflix, offering you a complete series to watch at the click of a button.

So, here I am into series four of The Office US, telling myself 'just one more episode', as I stay awake into the early hours to get my fix. I hope I'm not alone in this addictive watching, otherwise, I will really need to re-evaluate my life! Below, are some of my favourite shows.

Sex and the City
This should need no explanation, as SATC is the ultimate series for me. I received this box-set for Christmas, so December quickly became an SATC marathon. A series that focuses on friendship, dating, love and SEX. I relived the Carrie and Mr Big romance series by series. It's a show that you never get tired of - especially when it comes to Carrie's style and wardrobe. The pink Oscar De La Renta dress she wore in Paris was my all-time favourite outfit.

Q. Which character would you be, Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte or Miranda?

GIRLS
Living the dream, one mistake at a time.  GIRLS is an award winning comedy, created by and starring Lena Dunham. It focuses on four girls paving their own paths in the world, whilst facing many of life's trials and tribulations. It's a mixed bag of friendships and relationships which makes this show constant viewing. The characters are equally as addictive as they are quirky.
Allison Williams, who plays Marnie said this of the show,

‘The show definitely aspires to honesty, for better or worse, and sometimes in an unglamorous way. I could see how that Brooklyn life must seem foreign to a lot of people, but at the same time there are themes that anyone could latch onto’.

Q. Have you read Lena Dunham's Not That Kind Of Girl?

Spaced
This show was written by and starred Jessica Stevenson and Simon Pegg as characters Daisy and Tim. The series begins with a chance meeting in a cafe, resulting in them pretending to be a couple in order to rent a flat from landlady, Marsha. Just add some eccentric and offbeat characters to the mix and you have scenes that still remain entertaining ten years on. Spaced remains a much loved British sitcom. It has a 'cult' status and one that fans love to quote, along with its many pop-culture references. If you are a fan of Shaun of the Dead, then you will enjoy this comedy.

The Office US
This show is my current beau. I have just finished series four and I have no intention of taking 'a break'.  This is the US adaptation of the hit BBC series. Set as a mockumentary, it follows the daily interactions and dramas of a group of employees working in a dysfunctional office. The boss, Michael Scott, played by Steve Carell, is hilariously awkward and inappropriate. The on-going storyline that is Jim and Pam melts my heart as there is a brilliant balance of comedy and romance between these two characters. There is nothing like finding a show that has you laughing out loud.

Fav character: without a doubt, DWIGHT

Thank you for reading. What shows would you recommend?

Hair Today

Images 1 2 3 4

I'm very late to the party on this one, this one being the lob. I only recently discovered that this term stands for the long bob, as seen on Kendal Jenner and Olivia Palermo to name just two. This style is exactly what I need to give my hair some life.

I have spent months trying to grow my hair, with the dream of having long, mermaid locks. Unfortunately, my hair seems to grow to an awkward length and then grows no longer. My hair lacks bounce, shape and lacks lustre – so it’s time for the chop! It always take some time to get to this decision. It’s the typical dilemma
to cut your hair or not to cut your hair?
After looking at hair inspiration, I have been well and truly charmed by images of the long bob. As for the colour, we will leave that for another day.

The long bob is longer in length than the standard bob and can be cut many ways to suit and flatter you - length in the front with a slightly shorter back for a more shapely cut. I prefer to opt for a softer cut, as opposed to a blunt, sharp cut. Also, I find longer layers easier to style – short layers cause me no end of problems. Although my hair never does as I want it to, I'm excited to cut away the dull ends and style away...

I have read that this style is low maintenance (I will be the judge of that) and easy to style.  Luckily I have my favourite hair products at hand to add some texture and shine. New hair, new me?

Have you had the long bob before?

YOSO

YOSO is a brand that I first heard about on twitter. A brand that introduces innovative technology to beauty treatments. YOSO has a portal skincare range that allows users 'to look and feel their best wherever they are'.

On receiving the YOSO compact, I was impressed with the design and how compact and portable it was. However, I was unsure how it would fit into my skincare routine and/or if this skincare technology was for me. I'm always a willing consumer when it comes to skin care, having suffered with mild acne, I want to find products that leave my skin feeling fresh and clear.

What is ion cleansing?
Ionic skin care technology uses positive and negatively charged ions through electrical charges to help draw out impurities and create skin balance.

This YOSO compact uses a positive charge to draw out the negatively charged dirt from deep within your pores, for a DEEP facial cleansing.

I have been using this compact with my regular toner and moisturiser daily. I admit, I was uncertain about the overall concept, as the smooth rubber head did not vibrate or move (like so many other skincare devices on the market). However, this is the appeal of using ions to lift dirt, sebum and make up from deep within your poresSomething that took me a long time to learn was that harsh, vigorous products are not always kind to your skin. So, this non-abrasive and gentle application of toner and mosturiser has been a welcomed addition.

The simple to use clip system, allows you to use cotton pads with ease. I found that it was very effective in leaving my skin feeling fresh and thoroughly cleansed. This compact has been a positive addition to my skincare routine.

happy new year

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I have never been one to make New Years' resolutions. However, with so many writing about their inspiring goals for the year ahead, it's hard not to think about what I would like to happen in 2015. So, I am embracing the new year as a new chapter and a blank page. A reason to be optimistic and make a positive mark. Here are my resolutions..

Learn

I want to learn Yoga and more meditation techniques. I think this will be core to being healthy in mind, as well as body. I hope to share my experience along the way with you.

I want to learn more about nutrition. I have suffered with troubled skin for years and have let it hold me back for far too long. A look into dairy alternatives (inspired by Laila) and a more balanced diet will hopefully improve my skin and even my confidence.
Laugh
The most wasted of all days is one without laughter - E.E. Cummings

There a reason why they say laughter is the best medicine. It is a great way to relieve stress and tension for example. Laughter can shift our mood and perspective when we find ourselves feeling blue. It's important to find light in dark situations, it enables us to deal with things easier and find some relief.

I want to say goodbye to those cloudy days and find a reason everyday to laugh, whether it be on my own or with friends. There is so much to enjoy and I intend to do just that this year.
